With so many benefits of trusting God, one may wonder why most Christians struggle to trust God.
Our heavenly Father doesn’t change. He is faithful even when we are faithless. His faithfulness and love should be a foundation upon which we build our trust.
Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. Psalms 9:10 N.I.V
But that’s not always the case, right? The truth is it takes time to build trust, even when it comes to our relationship with God.
There’ll be times when it will be easy for us to trust Him. When life is smooth, our finances are okay, we live in good health, and our loved ones are doing great.
But, there’ll also be times when we shall find ourselves struggling to trust God.
It’s such times that we need to remind ourselves of the benefits of trusting God. Before we go into details about the benefits, let us look at why Christians struggle to trust God.

Why we Struggle to Trust God
We Focus on the Problem
It is hard to take our minds off the problem we are facing and focus on God. But the truth is focusing on the problem will not take it away. If anything, the situation will worsen, and you won’t delight in the benefits of trusting God.
We need to learn how to take our eyes off our problems. Magnifying God, instead of our challenges, is a way of saying that we trust Him.
Past Experiences
Some of the things we go through leave us hurt and broken. When we find ourselves in similar situations, it becomes difficult for us to trust God.
We keep reliving our past pain, and this causes us to become doubtful. Although we know God is almighty, we find it hard to trust Him because we’re still holding onto the past.
Now, someone may say, I want to trust God. But I don’t really understand why I must trust Him.
What are the Benefits of Trusting God?
1. God will give you the Desires of your Heart
What brings fulfillment to your heart? What satisfies you? It is tempting to focus on self and the things of this world. But the truth is the things of this world only bring temporary fulfillment.
Psalms 37:4-6 says if we delight and trust God, He’ll give us the desires of our hearts. This means that our fulfillment should come from God alone. When we find satisfaction in Christ alone, God grants us the things that we long for in our hearts.
2. You will bear fruit
One of the crucial benefits of trusting God is bearing fruit. Not just any fruit but good fruit that lasts forever.
God is a loving Father who never leads his children wrong. When we believe His word and walk in the way that He has set for us, we become fruitful in our lives.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 tells us that those who trust and make God their hope and confidence will never stop producing good fruit. The quality of fruit you produce is dependent on how much you trust God.
If you are not fully committed to God, then your fruit will not be of good quality.
People who trust God weather all seasons in life. They’re like trees planted by the river bank. They bear fruit in and out of season because God is their provider and not the systems of this world.
A great biblical example of someone who bore fruit because he trusted God is Isaac. Though a severe famine struck the land, Isaac put his trust in God and followed what he was told by Him.
As a result of his obedience, he harvested a hundredfold. (Genesis 26:1-12)

3. Perfect Peace
The world is a better place when there is peace. That is why we see different governments coming together to sign peace treaties. But there is so much we can do to maintain peace as humans. A saying goes: peace is not the absence of war.
There may not be physical wars in your life, but there is a spiritual battle going on in your mind.
We need God for us to walk in peace. We need to believe that He can give us the peace that surpasses all understanding.
The solutions of the world will provide you with temporary peace. But God will fill your mind with the peace that surpasses all understanding.
4. Confidence
Trusting in God doesn’t make us immune to bad things and challenges. We live in a fallen world, meaning there will always be bad stuff happening around us. But when your heart is steadfast in God, you will not fear bad news.
Even when we get bad news, we will remain peaceful and confident because we know God is with us. Instead of focusing on the bad news, we will focus on our heavenly Father. He is our comforter, deliverer, guide, and ever-present help in our time of need. (Psalm 46:1)
5. God will Be with You
Okay, that we don’t believe God is with us doesn’t make Him disappear. Our heavenly Father is omnipresent. He is everywhere we go. We cannot hide from Him.
If we want to be successful in all that we do, we need God’s presence in our lives. Joseph was betrayed by His brothers, but that did not block him from succeeding. He prospered in whatever he did.
What was the secret to his success? Genesis 39:2 says, the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man. It didn’t matter where Joseph was; what mattered was the fact that God was with him.
Joseph prospered in Potiphar’s house, and he also did when he was in jail. It doesn’t matter where you are. Trust God and believe that He is with you. He will make you successful.
6. Trusting God Pleases Him
Looking for ways to please God? How about trusting Him with your life? It’s only by trusting God and the process He’s taking you through that you will be able to please Him.
But why is it important to please the Lord? How does it benefit us? When God is pleased with you, He lavishes His love upon you and surrounds you with favor as with a shield (Psalm 5:12).
Trusting God opens up doors for you to enjoy things that only kingdom children have access to.
7. God will lead you on the right path
Successful people are those who walk in the purposes of God, not those who have material possessions or are famous.
It is tempting to want to do things your way or chase after this world’s riches. But it’s better to do it in God’s way, even when it doesn’t make sense to you.
When we lean on our human understanding, we end up being miserable in life. But when we trust God with the process and allow him to guide us. We end up walking on the right path that He has set for us. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
8. Joy
Proverbs 16:20 says that those who trust in God will be joyful. It means that our joy is not dependent on our circumstances; it depends on God and him alone. If you’ve been looking for happiness or joy in other things, it is high time you start looking for it in God.
The more you spend time with God and follow his lead, the easier it will be for you to trust Him. And this, in turn, will cause you to start living a joyful life.

9. Protection
Some people fear man more than they fear or trust God. They are not ashamed to sin as long as other people don’t find out.
They will do everything and anything, even if it goes against God’s will to please other people. But the Bible tells us cursed is anyone that puts their trust in man Jeremiah 17:5.
Our hope and trust should be in God and not man. Human beings will not determine where we will spend eternity. It is only God who can. That’s why we are told to fear the one who can destroy both our bodies and souls.
You may be trying so hard to secure your future by saving money, getting the right education, and so forth. But if you are not involving God in your plans, all you are doing is in vain.
God knows the end from the beginning. And it is only Him who can protect us from all kinds of harm. But for that to happen, we need to trust Him with our lives. Trust Him with your life, and know that he is more than able to fight all your battles.
10. God Will Never Let you Down
Putting your trust in people will leave you disappointed and heartbroken. People change all the time. There will be moments when they will be there for you, but there will be times when they will not.
We are all going through something. And that means your friend may not be there for you the way you expect them to. It is not that they don’t love you. It’s just that they have other things to deal with urgently.
The same cannot be said about God. There’s nothing too difficult for our heavenly Father. He can take care of all His children and will never change His mind about you.
When you trust Him, He will not break your heart or disappoint you. God will always come through for you.
11. You will be Delivered from Wicked Schemes
If the devil can’t stop you from receiving Christ, he will try to stop you from pleasing God. Why is that so? It is because we are in a battle with an enemy that doesn’t want us to prosper.
The good news is the children of God are already victorious no matter what the enemy tries to do. But it is not enough for us to know that Jesus has made us victorious. We need to believe it in our hearts so that we can enjoy the benefits of trusting God.
Meshack, Shadrach, and Abednego are great examples of people who put their entire trust in God. They did not care that they were about to lose their lives.
They believed that God would save them, and even if He didn’t, they were not willing to disobey Him. In the end, God sent his angel in the fiery furnace to save them. (Daniel 3)
We need to believe that God will deliver us from every wicked scheme plotted against us. Know that God is fighting for you. Believe that he is there with you. He will never forsake you or allow the enemy to defeat you. (Psalm 62:8)
12. God will Supply your Needs
Trusting God means depending on Him for everything. It means that much as you go to work, your trust is not in your job or boss but God.
If you are a student, you look up to God for wisdom and not your teacher or self. If you are into business, trusting God means seeing Him supplying you with great business strategies and clients.
Trusting God means putting Him first in all that you do. When you do that, you enable Him to supply your needs according to His glorious riches (Philippians 4:19).
When we try to do things our way. And depending only on ourselves or other people to get stuff, we end up blocking God from supplying our needs.
When we worry instead of trusting Him, we end up delaying God’s blessing from manifesting in our lives. It’s only when we trust God completely that He opens the floodgates of heaven. And we enjoy the great things God has in store for us.
13. Renewed Strength
Life can be tiring at times. A lot of things leave us weary. It is easy for one to get caught up with all that is happening to the point that they start struggling with depression.
The Bible says that those who trust in God will renew their strength. If you are overwhelmed by life issues, turn to God, and focus on Him alone, not your problems. Your strength will be renewed and start to walk in new power.

14. God will bless you
It is not enough for you to call yourself a child of God. Saying you believe that God exists is not enough. Even demons believe God exists (James 2:19). You need to trust Him for you to get the privileges of kingdom children.
God loves all His children. He makes the rain pour on both the righteous and the wicked (Matthew 5:45). But God blesses those who trust and choose to walk in His ways. When you trust Him, He blesses you with peace, rest, good health, long life, and eternal life.
15. God will Surround you with Steadfast Love
So many people don’t treat themselves or others right because they don’t understand what love is. They have never been loved right, or no one has ever told them about God’s conditional love.
Love makes a difference in the world. It causes those that feel unwanted to feel wanted. Love is what made Jesus give His life for us so that we can be forgiven.
For you to get a profound revelation of God’s love. And for God to surround you with steadfast love, you need to believe that God loves you so much.
You can not enjoy something you are not willing to receive. Start by accepting God’s love for you. And trust that He will never give up on you.
16. Comfort
Is your heart troubled by the issues of life? Trying to find comfort in entertainment and worldly distractions? Well, real comfort comes from God.
He knows what is troubling your heart and how to overcome the challenges you are facing. Trust Him, and he will take away all your worries and help you find comfort.
Jesus said that we should not worry about the things of this world. What we should eat or drink for our heavenly Father knows what we need (Matthew 6:25-34).
Stop allowing worry or problems to steal your peace. Instead, surrender all your cares to God and allow Him to comfort you.
17. God will fulfill His Promises
Many people get mad at God when His promises don’t manifest in their lives. Spend some time with most of these individuals. And you will realize that some of them do not trust God with their problem.
Though they believe that God can, they don’t necessarily believe that He can fulfill that particular promise. But the word of God says we should believe that what God says is true.
We should not waver in our faith (1 Kings 18:21). It is only by trusting God that we can enjoy the promises that He has given us.
Conclusion
Trusting God is a process. You can’t do it in one sitting or immediately after you have given your life to Christ. Like any other relationship, you need to build your relationship with God.
So that it can be easy to trust Him. One of the ways that you can start building your trust in God is knowing the benefits of trusting God.
Trust should not be forced. It needs to come from your heart. Read the word, practice His presence, and pray. Speak back the promises of God to Him. Believe what God says in the word and know that He will never fail you.
