Seeking God’s Presence: 13 Amazing Benefits

When it comes to seeking God’s presence, there are a lot of questions that come to mind. How can I hear Him?

How can I know if it’s really Him or not? I’m sure everyone has asked such questions at least once in a lifetime.

However, sometimes we feel like we need confirmation. We know that having a personal encounter with Him is not an everyday experience, but a true unmistakable spiritual experience.

If you are a new believer and don’t know where to begin, you can start reading the Psalms: I find them really instructive and they can help you start praying.

“Are you saying that to seek God’s presence also means to read the Bible?” Absolutely! Romans 1:16 says “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes”.

The actual power of God is His Word, so, in order to see God in action, you need to be filled with the gospel.

Now, let’s discover the benefits of seeking God’s presence:

  • Balance

Your life should not depend on how you feel or on the people around you.

However, it’s also important to keep your thoughts under control and not philosophize too much.

Spending time in getting to know Jesus more will help you find a balance between your emotions and mind.

  • Trials

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life” (James 1:12)

I’m sure every Christian can confirm that having a relationship with Jesus can be a real adventure. You always have the opportunity to improve yourself and go to the next level.

There’s no point of arrival with Jesus, but a continuous growth… you’ll never be bored.

  • Peace

One of God’s names is Sar Shalom – Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). There’s no way He will make you feel anxious or discouraged: His perfect peace will always be with you.

If you are having a hard time and you are not feeling His peace in you, “be still and know” that He is God (psalm 46:10). Stop everything you’re doing and some take time off.

  • Full identity

“When God created mankind, He made them in the likeness of God” (genesis 5:1).

Knowing your Creator means to acknowledge who you really are and put it into practice. God’s presence will transform you into a better person day after day, as it is a never-ending process.

Satan always tries to tear you down and tells you lies about your true self. But How can you acknowledge they are lies if you don’t know who you are? Even Jesus was tempted by Lucifer but He did not fall.

How did Jesus face temptation? “The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread. Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:3,4).

He responded “It is written”: you need to know the Bible because His Word is Truth.

  • Never disappointed

He is perfect and knows what is best for you. Maybe you will not always agree with Him but as time passes, sooner or later, you will realize He was right and will thank Him for what He has done.

A lot of Bible characters have felt disappointed by God and turned away from Him. But then they realized they were wrong and remember that God has always a purpose.

Don’t be stubborn and don’t listen to the thoughts that say “He doesn’t understand your situation”. Be patient and improve your faith!

  • Intimacy

One of the most beautiful things about God’s presence is the level of intimacy you experience. It’s ok to go to church and attend a Christian community, it is healthy. But if you do so without a close relationship with the Lord, you are missing something.

Matthew 6:6 says, “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you”.

Every Christian needs personal time with God… and I can assure you that it’s not a waste of time at all.

  • A true refuge

“For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent” (Psalm 27:5).

God is always there for you and never abandons you. When you feel tired, instead of closing up, talk to Him and let Him know how you really feel. He will be your strength, your refuge, your rock.

  • He keeps His promises

Another unique benefit of seeking God is the fact that He is trustworthy. Every word He says is true and if He makes a promise, be sure that He will keep it. There are a lot of stories in the Bible that confirm the fact that God fulfills His promises.

Here’s a verse found in James 21:45 “Not one of the good promises which the Lord had made to the house of Israel failed; all came to pass”.

  • Wisdom

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16).

Searching for God is very important not only to get to know the spiritual realm but also to learn how to face it. Maybe you are the kind of person fascinated by spirituality and have done a lot of research.

However, has the Internet given you the weapons to face the spiritual realm? God wants to open your eyes and let you see what’s around you.

  • Follow the example

“To this, you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.” (1 Peter 2:21).

Even if sometimes we might think that it is “too difficult” to be a Christian, God gave us an example to follow: Jesus.

The Bible is full of testimonies and it is a practical guide we can consult every time we need advice. Besides, to be in a relationship with Jesus means that we can actually hear Him spiritually in our hearts and listen to what He has to say in specific cases.

The only thing we then have to do is obey.

  • Fresh Start

Every day is a new day with Jesus. Start your day thanking Him and prophesy good things over your life. “Ok, but how my prayers can be different every day?” When this question comes to mind, I read Psalm 40:5: “Many, LORD my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us.

None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare”.

Every day can be a fresh start, a new beginning. And when you feel down, remember that Jesus can restore you.

Don’t be a victim of your wounds, let Jesus “make you strong, firm and steadfast” (1 Peter 5:10).

  • God’s will

When you seek God, remain in His presence and listen to Him. Know that no enemy can stop you (Romans 8:31).

Proverbs 3:6 says “In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight”. Let God guide you and, even if you are going through difficult times, remember that everything will be fine.

He is everywhere, knows what you need and what you don’t need. We are used to saying “trust the process” … well, trust Jesus!

  • You are complete

“For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears” (1 Corinthians 13:9,10).

As mentioned, God is “perfect”. The etymology of this word means “something that is completed”. So, when you live in God’s presence, you lack nothing: you are fully loved, fully forgiven. God does not leave things incomplete!

Experiencing God’s presence is amazing and everyone has a different testimony. If you are new to this world or a Christian that loves keeping a personal relationship with God always on fire, add
