13 Proven Ways Praise Delivers from Evil

“Praise Will Deliver Evil” is a profound exploration of how faith and worship can act as a shield against life’s adversities.

Through heartfelt devotion and sincere praise, individuals can find strength, solace, and protection from the challenges and temptations that come their way.

I believe that no book better exemplifies the spirit of praise and worship than Psalms. It contains more expressions of praise than any other book in the Bible. Obviously, God wants the praises of his people.

God tells us that give him grace in everything (I Thess 5.18). Even when something exerts a lot of pressure against our souls. We may not understand what happens to us and we may never understand it.  God’s will in every circumstance is that we praise and thank him.

But why? The reason is that praise is the clearest means by which you declare your dependence on God. It is a confirmation of your trust in him in the midst of the thickest darkness.

It’s a confession of loyalty to the One who was crucified for you and to whom you are eternally united.

Below are 13 Proven Ways Praise Delivers From Evil.

1. Praise unleash the power of God against Evil.

Acts 16: 25,26. About midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

Then suddenly a strong earthquake struck so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. Instantly, all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains came loose.

Like Paul and Silas, I have personally seen the power of God unleashed after praise. Each month I host a night of praise in the home that God has allowed us to manage and enjoy.  On each of those nights, the power of God has manifested itself in multiple ways.

One of those nights I came from having severe pain in my lower back for more than a week. The pain was so strong that it prevented me from bending over. However, I did not use pain as an excuse not to participate in praising my King.

On the contrary, regardless of my condition, I danced, jumped, and moved as if nothing was affecting my body. The result was that at the end of the night my pain disappeared completely.

2. Praise Slows You Down and Helps You Live Wisely.

Praise and worship slow us down and usher us into the throne room of the Almighty God. It causes us to “be still and know” that He is God (Psalm 46:10). Praise to God places us in a position where He can reveal Himself, which causes us to worship Him more. Praise also keeps us obedient.

When we worship Him for all He’s done, it leaves us with an awareness of His presence in our lives. We are delivered from the haste of impulsive actions that often lead to regret.

If we are too busy to worship, we are too busy to live.  If we are too busy to worship, we make ourselves more prone to careless mistakes and foolish decisions.

3. Praise Protects Your Relationship with God.

Praising God is a natural expression of our relationship with the Living God. It’s the way we show Him we love Him. It’s the way we show Him we trust Him, even when we don’t understand what He is allowing.

To follow God’s mandate to “give thanks in all circumstances”.  Even the confusing ones set us apart from the rest of the world, which praises only what it understands.

Praising God as a lifestyle is imperative if we are to be people who experience holiness and obedience.

We were created for God’s pleasure. God takes pleasure when we worship Him by living in the awareness of His presence and proclaiming His goodness.

Just as a car needs a regular oil change and engine tune-up to keep it running effectively. Just as our bodies need food, water, exercise, and sleep to function properly. We need to regularly reconnect with our Maker through worship. It is the only way to live the kind of lives God meant us to live.

4. Praise opens God’s Divine Blessings Against.

Psalm 67: 5-6. The peoples praise you. O, God! All peoples praise you! The land will yield its fruit; God our God will bless us.

God will bless us to the extent that we obey Him and conform to His methods. Blessings are one of the results of praising Him.  Blessed people are those who constantly render glory to the King.  So if God is pleased with our praise, He will give us everything we need.

5. Praise Delivers You from a Sense of Entitlement.

It is natural for us to look at what others have and desire it, too. It is in our fleshly nature to be competitive with others so we can win.

To be critical of others who have more than us.  And also, to complain about what we don’t have that we really want.

Yet, Scripture tells us “godliness with contentment is great gain” (1 Timothy 6:6). How do we become content? When we realize that everything we have comes from Him.

Praise gives us a perspective that we deserve nothing, but a faithful God has given us more than we deserve. That perspective delivers us from selfishness and an attitude of entitlement. It also makes us God-focused first, and then others-focused rather than only self-focused.

6. Praise Protects You from Pride.

A prideful spirit operates on the motto that says it’s all about me. But praise, acknowledging that everything I have comes from Father above, keeps me out and places the spotlight on Him.

James 1:17 tells us. “Every good gift is from above, coming down from the Father, who does not change like shifting shadows.” Sometimes the very things we don’t want are God’s gifts to us in disguise.

When we acknowledge that every gift is from God, and we continually praise Him for whatever comes our way. There is no room for us to take the credit or believe we are more important than we really are.

Praise keeps us humble. And that protects us from the sin of pride.

7. Praise Produce Peace.

Isaiah 60:18: Never again will violence be heard in your land, nor destruction and ruin in your territories. Rather, you will call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise.

Philippians 4: 7-8. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. For the rest, brothers, everything true, everything honest, everything just, everything pure, everything kind, everything of a good name. If there is any virtue, if anything worthy of praise, think of this.

When our thoughts focus on what God expects us to meditate on and our lips open to praise him. That peace so different from that offered by the world will flood our hearts and our hearts. It is impossible to live in praise of God and be in anxiety, rather, praise itself brings us peace.

8.    Praise Keeps You Surrendered and Mold-able.

Psalm 100:4 commands us to “Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise” (NASB). There is no condition placed on that command.

We are not told to “Enter His gates with thanksgiving only when He’s blessed your socks off.” Neither are we told to “Enter his courts with praise after a really successful year.”

In Habakkuk 3:17-19. At a time of devastating loss for the nation of Judah, the prophet focused not on his feelings or circumstances. He turned his eyes and praise to the sovereign God who would give him strength in spite of the struggles.

He prayed: “Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines. The producer of the olive fail and the fields yield no food. The flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls.  Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.  God is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places.”

It’s tempting to resist the work of God in our lives because many times it’s uncomfortable. Yet, that is how God shapes and refines us—through the painful and uncomfortable situations in life. It’s also tempting to blame God when life goes bad.

Praising God like Habakkuk did, simply because we are commanded to. (see Psalm 150).

When we focus on Him, not on what is happening. We can be alert to what He wants to teach us.

How He wants to grow us and how to please His heart in the midst of our problems and difficulties.

9. Praise Attracts Good Health.

Proverbs 17:22: A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones (VM).

People who live complaining every day, in addition to not feeling happy, repel good health with their attitudes.  All kinds of diseases to themselves.

Many times, these people visit doctors and hospitals where they do all kinds of tests which never detect anything abnormal.

Nevertheless, they continue to feel sick. They do not realize that Diagnostic instruments can’t identify the origin of diseases that is not physical. A life of praise and thanksgiving to God is the right answer to alleviate much of our physical ills.

10. Praise Reminds You What Life is About.

It is when we start focusing on worldly pursuits that we lose sight of God’s call on our lives. Scripture tells us to identify with Christ as Paul did when he said in Galatians 2:20. “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live, I live by faith in the Son of God, who gave himself for me.”

Starting and ending each day in praise will remind us that all that matters is God. Colossians 3:2-4 instructs: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”

You can keep the perspective that Christ is your life when you are constantly in an attitude of praise.

11. Praise Changes Us.

2 Corinthians 3:18. Therefore, we all looking open face as in a mirror. The glory of the Lord, are transformed from glory to glory in the same image. As by the Spirit of the Lord.

We are transformed into the image of the very glory of the God we worship. What a beautiful privilege. God rewards us by transforming us into his own image.  When we express our love and gratitude to him through our praise and adoration. 1 John 3: 1-2.

12. Praise Purifies Your Desires.

Scripture explains why we sin.  “Each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, when it is full-grown gives birth to death” (James 1:14-15).

Psalm 37:4: tells us when we delight ourselves in the Lord. He gives us (places within us) the desires of our hearts. To delight ourselves in God is to focus on the delights of His character and of a relationship with Him.

13. Praise Brings Victory.

2 Chronicles 20: 21-22. After consulting with the people, he appointed some of them to sing to Jehovah and praise him. To sing in the beauty of holiness, as they went before the army, saying.  “Praise Jehovah, for His mercy is forever!”. When praising began, Jehovah ambushed the Ammonites, Moabites, and Seir Highlands who had come against Judah, and were defeated.

God expects us to rest in Him each day. Offering God our continued praise to allow Him to act accordingly, granting us victory in each of our daily battles.

Conclusion

Dear brothers and sisters, if we want to enjoy the blessings that praise brings. Let us not stop praising God at all times.

Praise should continually be in our mouths, that we always exalt his majesty.  Let this world see the face of the Lord on each one of us. We and the sweetness of holiness and his great love.
