Some people respond to insecurity by seeking seclusion while others respond by seeking as much attention as possible.
Dealing with insecurity will make you a more productive and likable person.
Let us consider the top 7 proven ways Christians can overcome insecurity.
Avoid comparing yourself to others.
Nothing makes you feel insecure faster than comparing yourself to others. Do not try to be someone else.
God has made all of us unique because of the unique purpose we were all created for. You were custom made for a specific purpose. David puts it this way:
13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place when
I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
God saw your unformed body while you were in your mother’s womb. All your days were ordained in his book, the Bible.
You will never find anyone that is exactly like you – yes, they might be better than you at some things but there is something unique that only you are good at!
Focus on your abilities.
Author Rick Warren points out in The Purpose Driven Life that an average man has at least 500 abilities/talents.
Though you may never have thought about it, you are actually a multifaceted being. God put lots of abilities and talents in you.
We often admire those who discovered and unearthed these hidden abilities but forget that we are also just as gifted.
1 Peter 4:10
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.
If you prayerfully consider it, you will soon discover that there are lots of things you are good at.
Make a list of these things and start focusing on them. Start developing your gifts by investing time and other resources and before you know it, you will rise to the top.

- Chose friends who encourage you.
Nothing will kill your morale like surrounding yourself with friends who constantly criticize you for your decisions, your abilities, and everything you do or say.
It helps to get around some people who see the good in you and help you to bring it out. We all like knowing we are celebrated by someone and even though not everyone will celebrate you, there always is someone who likes you genuinely.
- Chose friends who complement your weakness.
Another strategy is to surround yourself with people who are good in areas you are weak in. The idea is to draw from their strength and maybe even learn a couple of things in the process.
Feel free to ask them for help. You might be surprised how much help you will get if you ask for it.
Most people fear being near people who are doing better than they are because it makes them look weak – but whenever you surround yourself with people excelling in an area you are not, you will notice a considerable improvement over time.
Another way of dealing with insecurity is to always improve yourself. You can do this by reading relevant books and articles, attending seminars and training, and even seeking formal training.
The more information you acquire in your field, the more confident you get and the less insecure you will feel.

This will inspire you to overcome insecurity as you magnify God in your situation.
Trust in God’s providence.
The psalmist made an interesting in the book of Psalms 100:3
It is he that has made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.
That’s the mindset you ought to adopt – that it is God that made us and you are the sheep of his pasture. If so, then you do not need to worry about a thing.
The God who made you, the one that refers to himself as the good shepherd in John 10, will surely take care of your needs.
