While going through life, we encounter many challenges. While some of these challenges are small, others are so difficult that we will require God’s help to get past them.

The good news is that God helps us through every curve ball life throws at us because we are His children. And we have help in Him. He does not leave us all to ourselves, especially in difficult times.

In this article:13 signs God is helping you; you will discover the ways God is helping you through that challenge. Through the insights provided here, you will also understand how God helps us in times of trouble.

How Does God Help Us In Difficult Times?

Due to impatience, fear, and frustrations that arise from troubles or challenges, it is common to hear people ask: how does God help us in times of trouble?

There are two significant ways God helps us overcome our challenges or difficulties:

God still performs creative miracles when He wants to help us. Divine interventions are the helps God offer us without our recognizing them. Sometimes, He blows off an impending catastrophe from our path. At other times, He sends angels with specific instructions on how to meet our needs.

Often, God sends the right people to us and at the right time to help us with our needs. This need could be physical, material, financial, or otherwise. Sometimes, the people He uses may be brothers and sisters in the body of Christ. At other times, they may be total strangers divinely sent our way to be of help to us when we need that help the most.

There are anxious moments when we pray so hard to God and hope to get immediate help, and that doesn’t seem to happen. But the truth is we can still find signs of His divine help in diverse circumstances.

Here Are 13 Signs God is Helping You.

Jesus in John 5:17 said, My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working. This indicates that God has never stopped working and helping those He created since the world began. So, for you wondering if God is really helping you, He has from the day of your conception.

The reason you are probably not aware that He has been helping you and is still helping you; is because He sometimes grants us help differently from how we expect it. For instance, God will not just hand you something that is too huge for you to handle. Instead, He will give you what it takes to assemble them from pieces until it becomes a whole.

You may ask Him for a meal when you are hungry, and He supplies you with the ingredients to prepare a meal that will not only take care of your hunger. But that someone else at that time. In other words, His help comes in diverse ways. What you need to do is look out for the signs to know if He is helping you.

You know God is helping you if:

  1. You Are Alive.

According to statistics, 500,000 people die daily. The fact that you are still alive and well is the first sign that God is helping you. God helps us pass through many challenges daily in this world where several odds are stacked against us on every side.

Ecclesiastes 9:4-5. (NIV) says – Anyone who is among the living has hope—even a live dog is better off than a dead lion! 5: For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even their name is forgotten. In other words, that you can still breathe is proof that God is indeed helping you.

  1. He Builds Your Character Through Trials.

There is nothing that purifies our character like the fiery furnace of trials. And it is crucial for you to know that every Christian needs this kind of refining. God uses the pain of trials to turn us into refined and ready vessels for His use.

God took everyone He used in biblical times through a period of trials and refinement. Joseph ended up as Pharaoh’s right-hand man. But not before God had made him endure a difficult life in prison (See Genesis 39).

David also did not become the king of Israel until God had taken him through many years of tending his father’s flock. At these times, he had to confront lions and other wild beasts.

These difficult experiences turned out valuable for the life God later brought him into. Even today, every trial is a sign that God is helping you get where He has predestined you to be.

  1. Your Knowledge of Scripture Increases.

God has provided us with the most valuable guidance we need to succeed in every aspect of our lives.

And that is His word (the Bible). 2 Timothy 3:16-17. (NIV) – All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Whether it is to succeed physically, spiritually, financially, or otherwise; God’s word thoroughly equips us. So, when your knowledge of God’s Word starts experiencing an increase as a result of a more regular study of the Scripture; it is evident the Holy Spirit is the one personally helping you.

  1. Your Life Changes for the Better.

One of the signs of a life helped by God is a continuous positive change in every aspect of such a life.

2 Corinthians 3:18. (NIV) says – And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory; which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. In sum, a God-helped life is an ever-increasing one.

  1. He Provides You with Timely Guidance.

In biblical times, God promised to guide the prophet Isaiah and His people (the nation of Israel). And all through Scripture, we saw God guiding and helping them. He still provides us with the same personal counsel today.

The Holy Spirit whispers into our hearts, so we can choose the next right step and steer clear of pitfalls. Isaiah 30:21. (NIV) says – Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it. If you have ever heard such words audibly or in your spirit, that was God helping you by offering you guidance.

  1. You Have Peace.

It is natural to have your peace withdrawn when you have problems. But experiencing peace even in the midst of difficult challenges is a sign that God is divinely assisting you. John 14:27. (NIV) – Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid.

Another Scripture further confirms this. Romans 8:6 – The mind governed by the flesh is death. But the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace (NIV). Without an iota of doubt, having peace, especially during hard times, shows God is helping you.

  1. He Takes Care of Your Needs.

One of the most incredible things I have discovered over the years is that God truly provides for those He loves, even in extraordinarily difficult situations.

He does that in ways that we hardly ever expect. Though sometimes He takes us through the path of lack only to bring us into abundance.

  1. He Gives You Wisdom.

Wisdom is a divine gift God gives us as we walk the path He has set before us in life. Not everyone has this priceless gift. So, if God has graciously imbued you with it; it simply means He is divinely assisting you to accomplish your goals, dreams, or vision.

Although many receive wisdom from God after they have asked in prayer; others had theirs bestowed on them without their asking. Whichever is your case; it is only a sign of God’s divine help to enable you to accomplish certain feats in life or make a great impact for His glory.

  1. You Are Making Progress.

God is the one who gives us the grace, wisdom, strength, and speed to make great strides in life. Without His help, we can do nothing.

As such, making consistent progress in your endeavors is one of the signs that God is really helping you in life.

  1. He Empowers You.

One profound way God helps us, which I have observed over the years, is that He empowers us to accomplish things that appear impossible.

As Deuteronomy 31:6. (NIV) says – Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. If you are able to do with ease the things you would have naturally struggled with, it is God helping you.

  1. He Turns Peoples’ Hearts Toward You.

Often, God brings people our way and makes their hearts conform with His perfect plan for us. You can call these kinds of people divine helpers or destiny helpers. When people who do not stand to gain anything from helping you walk into your life.

Especially in what looks like a mere coincidence and goes out of their way to touch your life in one way or another; it indicates that God is helping your course. Proverbs 21:1. (NIV) – In the Lord’s hand, the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him.

  1. You Are Divinely Protected.

As God protected the children of Israel from all the plagues He unleashed in Egypt; I have seen God protect believers amid difficult situations that would have led to death.

One way God helps those He loves is by granting divine protection from the wiles of the enemy. If no harm comes near you daily, it is clear you have God’s help on your side.

  1. He Works in Your Situations for Good.

Paul wrote in Romans 8:28. (NIV) – And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

It is comforting to know that even when we fall or fail, God intervenes in our situations to make sure His purposes for us are realized. If you have ceaselessly seen God working in your situations, that is definitely a sign of His divine help.

God knows our troubles; He sees our afflictions. So, he knows when you are fearful, hopeless, weary, depressed, and in need of provision or protection. And He is saying to you, “Be Still.” He is also saying; I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10 (NIV).

He has always given assurance of His help. You only need to look closely to see what He is doing. And how He is helping you in ways you would never have imagined were possible.

He spins the earth in orbit and can do anything for you. His unfailing love constantly covers us. Hence, you should never doubt if such a loving Father is helping you. Because the truth is that He always helps us in times of difficulties, whether we see it or not.

Conclusion

Regardless of the intensity of the difficulties, you are currently having; you should know that God is always helping you through them, whether you see it physically or not. You will be dumbfounded if He opens your eyes to see every single time, He helps you.

So, do not ever let anxiety, challenges, or unpleasant life circumstances stop you from praying because you erroneously believe God is not helping you. Do not ever doubt His love and his outstretched hands that are always extended toward you to grant you the help you need.

Be grateful for the help He renders, which you cannot see. Your gratitude opens the door for more help and blessing from God.
