God has marked specific people to fulfill particular purposes here on earth. As a result, those God marks are unique; they are exceptional among others as God chooses them to accomplish important assignments that will change people’s lives.

Nevertheless, these missions are never easy feats and may sometimes take years to accomplish. But the truth remains that God anoints those He marks for His use.

In other words, individuals that God marks are exceptional! They possess certain qualities that other people do not, which are often strikingly noticeable. People like Moses, Samuel, and David in the Bible showed exceptional qualities as evidence of God marking them.

In this article, we will consider 25 signs you are marked by God so that you can know if God has chosen you or not.

What Does It Mean to Be Marked By God?

Ephesians 2:10 says – For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared us to do. Being marked by God means God has divinely chosen and anointed you to fulfill a specific purpose on earth. (See Isaiah 49:1, Jeremiah 1:4-5, and Galatians 1:15).

God’s mark on someone makes grace available to that individual to accomplish extraordinary feats. Often, men and women God mark have their names written in the pages of history.

You should note, however, that when God marks you, He does this to fulfill His divine plan or purpose. While some people are remembered and immortalized for fulfilling God’s work, others accomplish their purpose but are only known by a few.

As our Creator, God specifically set apart some people (See Jeremiah 1:5). God, through the Holy Spirit, works His good pleasure in those He marks to help them fulfill their mandate. For example, God chose Samson to liberate the Israelites from the hands of the Philistines.

God filled Samson with enormous strength to help him carry his divine assignment. Samson was stronger than any man alive and was able to command fear from his enemies.

In other words, individuals God marks have exceptional abilities; they may have strange or remarkable characteristics. They are mostly fearless, confident, powerful, and wise. They are unstoppable because God anoints them to fulfill what He has called them to accomplish.

More so, God is always with them and has His presence around them. Romans 8:28 (NIV) – And we know that all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

25 Signs You Are Marked by God.

1. If God Speaks to You.

Not many people have the rare gift of hearing God speak directly to them. So, if you are privileged to hear the Lord speak, it is a great sign that He has marked you for a definite purpose. When God chooses you, He may speak to you with clear direction because you are His chosen.

Isaiah 30:21 (NIV) – Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”You can hear God’s voice in many ways – through visions, dreams, thoughts, and even the actions of others. The latter are usually confirmations of what He had already told you.

2. If You Are Full of Wisdom.

The Spirit of God fills anyone He marks with wisdom. James 3:17 (NIV) says – But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

This wisdom makes you act and communicate with truth, power, and discernment. As a result, people would always want to hear your opinion or seek your help in difficult situations because they know the spirit of God dwells in you.

Like King Solomon in the Bible, people would want to confide in you for wisdom, counsel, and guidance.

3. If You Have the Gift of Prophecy.

Having the spiritual gift of prophecy is another clear sign of God’s marking. Most prophets whom God marks fulfill divine purposes for God’s kingdom.

4. If You Are An Ambassador of Christ.

God created us all to propagate the gospel. However, He chooses others and anoints them more to carry out this great commission and bring more souls to Christ. A typical example of such a person is John the Baptist – who paved the way for Christ, announcing His coming and winning souls.

A Christian marked for this particular purpose represents Christ wherever they go. The individual reflects love, hope, sincerity, peace, and other exemplary virtues that are Christ-like (See John 17:14-15).

5. If Your Faith is Unwavering.

The Spirit of God inspires faith in us, causing us to trust God even amid hardship. It only takes God’s grace to remain confident in Him even when things don’t seem to go well.

Apostle Paul had a divine encounter with God that changed his life forever. Acts 26:16 (NIV) – Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me.

One common sign of God’s marking is divine encounters. Through divine encounters, God reveals His plans for us; at other times, He gives us instructions. These encounters could come through dreams, visions, or trances.

You may have encountered God supernaturally once or several times; it shows He has set you apart for His use.

9. If You Have An Unusual Desire to Please God Always.

In a world where the love of many is waxing cold daily, and people are becoming lovers of themselves instead of God, you have a burning desire to always live in ways that please God. You have also died to self, and do not give in to sinful desires of your flesh.

Lastly, you always seek God’s approval before any matter. Galatians 1:10 (NIV) – Am I now trying to win the approval of men or God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

These are signs of a life that God has divinely marked and set apart for Himself.

10. If You Are A Blessing to Others.

Those God marks are called to be a blessing to others. Being a blessing to others can come in different ways, such as extending generosity, and kindness, interceding for others or being a source of encouragement to many.

God created us for different purposes; He destinies some to uplift people, and He also anoints some to bring comfort, hope, and joy to others. If this describes you, it is a sign. Hence, you should ask God for the grace to keep being a blessing to others.

Do you easily establish and maintain healthy relationships? Do you live in peace with others and love others effortlessly?

Are you selfless, placing others’ needs before yours? God has undoubtedly marked you if your answers are in the affirmative.

12. If Your Life Attracts People.

This is common for anyone God marks. God’s hand upon anyone naturally makes that person attractive and lovable.

Therefore, if people are easily attracted to you, this must be a sign of God’s marking upon you. You should use the opportunity to win as many as possible over to God’s kingdom.

13. If You Have An Intimate Relationship with God.

When someone says you have an intimate relationship with God, it means you have a close rapport with God. It also means you live a life that is pleasing to Him. Intimacy with God is God’s intended purpose for us all.

Although, achieving this requires time and effort. That’s why Romans 14:17 says – For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

So, if you have an intimate relationship with God that constantly keeps growing, it shows God’s hand on you.

14. If You Always Stand Out.

Anyone God marks always stands out. This doesn’t mean they do not have their fair share of challenges like everyone else.

17. If You Are Prayerful.

Prayer is one of the best means to communicate with God. Therefore, if you are the type that loves to devote yourself to prayers always, it is evidence of God’s marking in your life.

It is apparently what constantly moves you to spend time with Him in prayer. You can be sure that your prayers will always produce dumbfounding results. As James 5:16 says – The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

18. If Your Life Manifests the Fruit of the Spirit.

Galatians 5:23-24 (NIV) – But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law.

We are called Christians because our words and actions reflect Christ. While the Holy Spirit produces the fruit of the Spirit (God’s character) in us, some believers manifest this fruit more than others. If your life manifests the nine graces the Holy Spirit produces in us, this proves that God has indeed marked you.

19. If You Have a Spiritual Gift(s).

(See 1 Corinthians 12:8–10). God blesses those He marks with spiritual gifts to enable them to fulfill their divine assignments.

20. If You Understand and Can Convey the Gospel Message Clearly.

(See Jeremiah 23:29; 20:9). One visible sign of God’s marking you for ministry is the ability to understand and teach or preach it with clarity.

During Jesus’ earthly ministry, His disciples could comprehend the kingdom’s mysteries that other people did not understand. This was only possible because of God’s hand upon them.

21. If You Constantly Overcome the Temptation to Sin.

1 John 3:6 (NIV) No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

As humans, it is challenging to overcome temptations. But if you have the grace to say no to sin at all times and stand your ground, then you can rest assured the Holy Spirit lives in you. This translates to a sign of God’s hand being on you.

22. If You Are Compassionate Toward the Unsaved.

Jesus Christ was compassionate toward sinners during His earthy ministry, and He handed the ministry of reconciliation to us. So, if you have the same compassion toward the unsaved, then God has undoubtedly marked you.

Go all out and fulfill your part in the ministry of reconciliation because it is evident that is where God has chosen you to serve predominantly.

23. If You Are Bearing Fruit.

God wants us to bear fruit, which is the fruit of Christian character, conduct, and conversion of the unsaved. John 15:16 (NIV) – I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last.

Therefore, if your life reflects virtues such as honesty, modesty, love, peace, etc., God has undoubtedly marked you for His use.

24. If You Are Sold Out to God.

Being sold out to God or Christ means you are all in, in Christ, with no plan of backsliding.

It also means that nothing can separate you from God’s love, no matter what. Likewise, you should know God has picked you for a purpose if you are saved and certain nothing can pull you away from God’s love.

25. If You Experience Divine Favor Often.

Do you often experience divine favor or divine interventions? Has God always turned your troubles into great outcomes?

Do the trials you encounter result in blessings? If yes, then God has certainly marked you for His use.

Conclusion

Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV) says – Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

This means God has probably marked you for a specific purpose. If the above signs resonate with you, you should ask Him to reveal more to you. It’s indeed a privilege for God to single you out from the over 7.5 billion people living in this world.
