Signs That God is Working in Your Life are an excellent time to draw closer to Him. It is paramount, as Christians, that we put our trust in the Lord. However, some situations are bound to shake us and make us wonder if God is listening to our prayers or if He is still God is working in our lives.

In other words, challenging situations can make one unsure if God is indeed working in their lives. So then, how can you be sure that God is working in your life?

For God to answer your prayers and work in your life, you need to surrender entirely to Him first. You must also believe and have faith in whatever time He chooses to show up in any of your life’s circumstances. Afterward, you can look for signs of God’s hand at work in your affairs.

How Do You Recognize What God is Doing?

First, you should know that God’s way differs from ours, just as Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV) says – For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

9: “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

It is important to mention that believers must be spiritually sensitive and discerning to recognize when He is at work in our lives. However, there are some common ways to recognize this.

We can discover what God is doing through:

The Bible in Isiah 49:8 says, “In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you.” Have you received favor from people you never expected? It is a clear sign that God is making everything work together for your good.

Therefore, we recognize God’s work from the blessings, miracles, and breakthroughs we experience from time to time. Remember that He will never abandon those who believe and trust in Him (See Psalm 9:10).

In the next section of this article, I will share 13 signs that God is working in your life with you.

Here Are 13 Signs That God is Working in Your Life.

1. When You Readily Accept God’s Gift of Salvation.

(See 2 Corinthians 5:17). God works in our lives, even in the lives of the “worst” sinners. Saul, for example, received salvation immediately after condemning one of God’s own (See Acts 7:54-60).

God doesn’t discriminate; He loves us all and wants everyone to come to His knowledge. The good news is, He transforms those who receive Him and translates from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of His dear Son.

That said, when you encounter and you readily accept His gift of salvation wholeheartedly, this is perhaps the most significant sign that God is working in your life.

2. If You Are Experiencing a Transformation in Your Life.

The Spirit of God transforms us into righteous people after we have accepted Christ. Therefore, experiencing a transformation from your old nature is another sign that God is working in your life. The process may be gradual, but you and the people around you will notice that you are no longer the person you used to be.

For instance, your family may observe that you are more mature, loving, responsible, and respectful. The more you seek to know God, the more Christlike you will become. Your life transformation is essential for receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit. A transformed life inspires others to come to Christ.

3. When Your Love for God and Hunger to Spend More Time with Him Increases.

Loving God more is another evidence that God is at work in your life. Loving God means you trust Him and enjoy spending time with Him.

Also, when you become more committed to praying, studying His Word, and generally spending more in His presence than you used to, it is proof that the Lord is doing something in your life.

4. When You Begin to Have Clarity on Your Purpose.

Our God-given purposes become more evident as we grow in Christ. Usually, it comes with a revelation of your calling. Knowing God’s purpose for us makes walking in our divine callings easier.

However, God does not reveal His plans for those not in Him. So, gaining clarity about your God-given assignment shows that God is indeed at work in your life.

5. If God Uses You to Help Others.

The Lord uses His followers to touch the lives of others. You can tell that God is at work in your life when He begins to use you to help both members of the body of Christ and the unsaved in different capacities, much more than you could have ever done.

It takes God’s grace to touch people’s lives in different ways. So, this affirms that the things you do for others that you would never have done before now result from divine empowerment.

6. If You Begin to Experience Divine Provisions.

(See Matthew 6:31-34). God provides for those who believe and trust in Him. He also provides for everyone and everything He created, whether they acknowledge Him or not.

However, when you begin to experience an extraordinary measure of abundance and divine provision, you must take this as a sign of Him working in your life.

Have you ever considered missionaries and how God meets all their needs? They do not worry about material things as they work for God because they trust that the Lord will always take care of their needs; the truth is He always does.

So, again when you begin to experience an extraordinary measure of the supply of God’s blessings, that shows that God is working in your life.

7. If Your Prayers Constantly Get Answers.

This can easily be overlooked, but there are miraculous answers to prayers that cannot be ignored. You need to look inwards to know that God has answered your prayers, probably in a different way – a better way.

Sometimes, God answers our prayers in subtle ways. Maybe you didn’t get the dream job you prayed for, but you were offered a different job (the one that suits your skill) that allows you to pay your bills.

So, instead of getting upset, you can choose to appreciate God for providing for your needs and caring for you. The most difficult answer to accept without any argument is when God says “no.” Notwithstanding, it is still an answer. Receiving answers when you pray proves God is at work in your life.

8. If You Still Have Things to Be Grateful for.

Although God sometimes intervenes with powerful and instantaneous miracles, He typically responds to our daily requests gradually. As a result, we often fail to recognize the little ways that show He is working.

If there are things in your life and the lives of those you love that you are grateful for, it shows God is working His good pleasure in you. You only need to meditate and look inward to find and appreciate Him for those things.

Even if things are not as smooth as they used to be, you still have reasons to thank God; these may include life, the roof above your head, your lovely family, good health, etc. You should take these as a sign.

9. If You Have Your Fair Share of Trials.

Nothing quite strengthens or shakes our faith like being confronted with trials. Maybe a loved one has just been diagnosed with a life-threatening ailment, or things are not going as you imagined. At this time, you can’t help but ask, “Where is God in all of this?”

While we are aware that God uses challenges to groom us (See James 1:4), we always wish that we could fast forward through suffering and pain.

However, at this point, we should rejoice in our sufferings (See Romans 5:3-5) because this is when God manifests, and great things happen. If you have gone through many trials or are still going through one, this is a sign that God is working in your life.

10. The Fact That You Are Alive and Well.

John 10:10 (NIV) says – The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Therefore, the fact that you are alive and well clearly shows that God is working in your life. You may not own a mansion or drive expensive cars. But the fact that you have all you need to thrive daily shows God is at work in your life.

11. You Survived a Horrifying Experience.

Not everyone lives through some severe challenges to tell the story. Hence, our pulling through terrible experiences means God still has plans for us and has not abandoned us.

Perhaps you have encountered a dire situation that almost took your life. This may have been a chronic illness or ghastly accident, but God preserved your life. This is another sign that He is still working in your life.

12. Receiving Divine Healing.

To demonstrate His power over death, Jesus knew that Lazarus was sick. But He did not go to him until Lazarus died and was buried (See John 11).

At times God allows us to undergo physical maladies so He can heal us to the glory of His name. He is the Great Physician who can grant us miraculous healing even in the most hopeless situations.

Scripture says in Matthew 15:26-28 that healing is for the children of the kingdom. So, if you have received divine healing from infirmity or affliction, it is a sign that God is at work in your life.

13. If Your Faith is Strengthened Even in Trials.

Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) says – So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. God strengthens us amid challenges and energizes us to emerge stronger from them.

Many Christians throw in the towel and abandon God when trials become too fierce. If your faith receives a boost each time, you go through a trial. Instead of suffering discouragement, this shows that God is working in your life.

What to Do When You Feel God Is Not Working in Your Life.

Often, life’s challenges can make anyone question or doubt God’s goodness. But this isn’t God’s will for us. Regardless of what we go through, He wants us always to remember that He will never forsake or leave us. In other words, He will never stop working in our lives.

If you are still in doubt if God is working in your life, here is what you should do:

  1. Repent from your sins and receive Christ genuinely.
  2. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s plans for your life.
  3. Seek help from your pastor or spiritual leader.
  4. Write down the good things God has done for you.
  5. Study the Bible regularly to know God better.

Conclusion

Do not allow frustration or discouragement to sway you into believing God is not working in your life. Learning to recognize His works in our lives requires patience and discernment.

When it seems, God is not working in your life, it should be an excellent time to draw closer to Him. Pray and study His word more; God will open your eyes to see how He is working things out for your good.
