God protects us in many ways. He assures us of His protection and care because we are His children. He calls us to run to Him for refuge whenever we feel insecure.
Sometimes we are not even able to tell that He has protected us from harm. But, He does it every single minute.
Psalms 91:10-11 (NIV) – “Then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”
God protects us through our guardian angels and through the Holy Spirit. As the scripture says, He will never allow harm to befall us. But how do we know that God is protecting us?
Below are 13 revealing Signs God Is Protecting You.
1. When You Receive Convictions Not to Go a Certain Way
There are times when we feel the promptings of the Holy Spirit within us urging us not to take a certain path. Many of us call this ‘something.’ We often say ‘I felt like something was telling me not to go that way.’ Actually, it is not ‘something’ that prompts us.
It is the Spirit of the Lord that lives within us. Whenever you feel such promptings, just know that it is God who is trying to warn you of impending danger. He makes us experience such prompts to protect us from danger that lurks in a certain path.
Psalms 121:7-8 (NIV) – “The Lord will keep you from all harm—He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
When we walk along the road, the Lord’s watchful eye is often over us. He warns us if there is any danger ahead of us. Those who ignore the promptings do not end up well. Some are attacked while others get involved in accidents.
2. When People Warn You About Someone.
Sometimes we surround ourselves with people who disguise themselves as good friends. The world is full of fake friends and people who are in our lives for their own personal gain. Such people always plot evil and look forward to our downfall.
God protects us from the evil schemes of such individuals through other people. When more than one person warns you about someone, try and find out what God is trying to communicate. He could be trying to save you from an evil plot that will disgrace you or incur losses to you and your family.

3. When You Miss Out On Certain Opportunities
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
God’s plans are meant to bring us hope and a future. His plan will never bring us harm, losses, shame, and destruction. When we miss out on certain opportunities or offers, we should not go about complaining.
Some offers and opportunities may become a burden to us in the future. God, who knows the end from the beginning protects us from future stress by ensuring that we miss out on the things that seem good at the moment.
Instead of complaining, we should thank God and trust in His plan for our lives. We should be grateful that He has protected us from the harm we knew nothing about.
4. When You Feel Betrayed by Someone Before You Get Too Attached with Them
We often take betrayal as something that is awful and frustrating. No one ever wants to go through it in their lifetime. But, are we aware that betrayal can be a blessing in disguise?
This happens especially when we are not too attached in the relationship. The Bible says that God has the ability to search the heart and examine the mind. He knows about the thoughts and intentions of people we relate with.
It is very hard for us to know if the people we relate with have good intentions for us. When God notices that the people we intend to build life-long relationships with are ill-willed, He separates us from them.
He protects us from deeper heartbreaks before it is too late. Romans 8:28 (NIV) says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Betrayal may actually work for our good. It might work to protect us from future emotional pain that may lead to depression.
5. When You Experience Delays in Your Plans
We at some point in life experience delays or setbacks in our plans, and wonder why God is allowing these things to happen. We often forget that He may be protecting us from something that we cannot see.
You may miss a flight and delay that trip that you so yearned for. You may face financial constraints that may delay that project that you eagerly wanted to start. Delays in our plans can be frustrating and discouraging.
We may feel like we are not making progress, or our dreams are slipping away. However, we can trust that God is always in control. He may be doing so to protect us from losses, accidents or other serious forms of adversity.
6. When You Dream About People Plotting Evil Against You.
Psalms 121:11 (NIV) – “Though they plot evil against you and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed.”
God promises that He will never let the wicked schemes of our enemies succeed. Our enemies are His enemies too. He must frustrate their evil plans and bring to light their wickedness.
Sometimes God warns us of the evil things that people plot against us through a dream. The dream might keep repeating every single night as a confirmation that it is a sign from God.
You might dream about someone following you with a harmful tool. These kinds of dreams should not be taken as normal dreams. They are God’s way of trying to protect us from danger.
When you get such dreams, call on God in prayer. Ask Him to protect you from harm through prayer.
7. When God Exposes the Lies of Someone That You Trusted So Much
God is our protector and defender. We trust Him to guide us through the challenges of life and to shield us from harm. However, sometimes we place our trust in people who let us down or deceive us.
Most of the time, we fall for lies that seem too good to be false. It can be painful and difficult to realize that someone we thought was trustworthy has been lying to us. God hates a lying tongue, and He will not let any of His children suffer because of lying tongues.
One way that God protects us is by exposing the lies of those who intend to deceive us. Sometimes we are blinded by our own desires or beliefs, and we cannot see the truth about the people around us. But God sees all things, and He knows when someone is not acting in our best interests.
He will reveal the truth and help us to move forward.

8. When You Feel a Certain Change of Desire.
Psalms 32:10 (NIV) – “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.
Do not be like the horses or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bridle or they will not come to you. Many are the woes of the wicked; but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in Him.”
God’s instructions may be revealed to us through a strong desire within us. He asks us to be alert in the Spirit to understand how He uses our desires to protect us. Sometimes, we may feel a sudden change of desire or direction, and wonder what it means.
We may question whether it is simply our own intuition or if God is trying to tell us something. In these moments, it is important to remember that God can speak to us in many ways, including through our desires.
When we feel a sudden change of desire, it could be God trying to protect us from something bad that is about to happen. You may feel like quitting your job, not getting out of the house the whole day or leaving that party before time.
This can be scary, strange and uncertain, but if we follow God’s lead, we will realize that it was one of His ways of offering us protection.
9. When God Provides a Way of Escape from Danger
God protects us by providing a way of escape when we are faced with temptation or danger. He gives us the strength and wisdom to resist temptation and avoid harm.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV) – “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
God knows our weaknesses and our struggles. He is always there to help us when we are faced with temptation or danger. God miraculously provides a way out of harm.
It could be an opening out of a house that is on fire or an idea that could save us. God can give you a brilliant idea in the midst of danger. When applied wisely, it can save us from danger and harm.
He may use anything to confuse the enemy for you to get a chance to escape. Sometimes, the way of escape may be to simply walk away from the situation. Other times, it may be to wisely confront the issue head-on.
10. When You Suddenly Fall Sick After Consuming Something That Is Harmful to Your Body Unknowingly.
We sometimes eat foods that have not been prepared under good hygiene without our knowledge. There are many cases of people who have died out of food poisoning.
In most cases, the people found out about the condition when it was already too late. Not every sudden sickness is the work of the devil.
A sudden illness may be a wake-up call for us to take action that will prevent us from serious issues. Some illnesses are God’s way of trying to protect us.
When we seek medication fast, there are possibilities of getting well. I have heard of people say, ‘If we hadn’t called the doctor fast, we could have lost our loved one.
As absurd as it seems, sudden sickness can be one of the ways through which God protects us.
11. When God Uses a Stranger to Help Us Out of Trouble
When Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were thrown into the burning furnace, God sent someone to rescue them.
Daniel 3:25 (NIV) – “He said, ‘Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like the son of the gods.”’
When we are in danger and someone suddenly shows up, it could be that God is trying to protect us through them. Strangers may come to our rescue in different ways. We may not realize it, but some of them may be our guardian angels sent by God.
When You Receive the Grace to Overcome an Addiction or Other Harmful Habits
Addiction and other destructive habits can be difficult to overcome. God protects us from the outcome of addiction by giving us the power and strength to overcome them.
1 John 5:18 (NIV) – “We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them.”
13. When You Receive an Intervention or Revelation That Prevents You from Making Bad Choices
God’s protection may come in the form of interventions that prevent us from making bad choices. These interventions can take many forms, such as a sudden change of plans, a feeling of unease, or the wise counsel of a friend or family member.
When we experience these interventions, it is important to recognize them as signs of God’s protection. Rather than feeling frustrated or resentful, we should thank God for His loving care and trust that He knows what is best for us.
2 Timothy 4:18 (NIV) – “The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
Summary
God is always watching over us. He is ready to protect us from anything, anytime.
There are things that we may feel like are unfair to us, but they are God’s way of protecting us. Let us learn to trust in God’s power to protect us in the ways that He knows best.
