God has promised us in His word that He will never leave or forsake us. Scripture also reaffirms that He will be with us even in the fire and deep waters. God’s presence in the life of any man makes all the difference. This makes it the desire of every believer to have God’s presence at all times.
Even though God does not give us physical evidence of His abiding presence today like He was with the children of Israel as a pillar of cloud in the day and pillar of fire in the night; we can tell if He is with us or not.

What Does The Presence of God Feel Like?
Every believer feels God’s presence differently, in different ways and situations. The problem is that we associate God’s presence with “feelings and emotions.”
The presence of God goes beyond emotions and how you feel. It’s beyond having goosebumps and chills. These are only physical sensations that accompany His presence. It’s one of the ways you can feel God’s presence and know that He is indeed with you. But it’s not the only way.
So, what does the presence of God feel like?
As earlier established, we feel God’s presence in different ways. Sometimes you are assured He is with you according to your need at the moment. For instance, in a moment of exhaustion, you can feel God’s presence like a warm embrace of peace and strength.
His presence can make you vulnerable; it can make you cry. He can come over you like a thick blanket during worship, immersing you in His love.
Sometimes you may feel God’s presence so powerfully that you will shiver and shake. At other times, His presence can come like a warm, gentle breeze.
However, the most important thing you should know is that God’s presence always fills one with joy and peace. His presence calms a troubled heart and replaces gloom or sadness with joy. God can’t be with you, and your life will lack peace or joy. These two Fruit of the Spirit are the ultimate proof that He is with you.

13 Signs That God is With You
Many Christians do not know if God is truly with them or not because we are expecting Him to manifest His presence in tangible ways that really prove that He is with us.
The experiences of others often influence this expectation. We want to feel God the same way our friend, sister, or brother did. The problem with this kind of expectation is that our experiences with God are different.
God deals with us differently. The same God who appeared to Moses in the burning bush appeared to the apostles with tongues of fire. So, you should have an open heart instead of trying to restrict God with your expectations. Seek His presence rather than the manifestations of His presence in your life.
When you have an open heart, God manifests Himself in many ways. In this article, I will share 13 signs that God is with you. These signs will help you know if God is with you.
You know God is with you if:
1. You Have Peace and Joy.
The ultimate proof that God is with you is the presence of peace and joy in your life. This is evident throughout the Old Testament.
Whenever the people appeared before the Ark of the Covenant, there was always singing and dancing. Likewise, when you experience unusual peace and joy even amid serious challenges, it is a sign that God is indeed with you.
2. Your Spirit Bears Witness of it.
Some people might refer to this as intuition. Meanwhile, intuition is the ability to feel or understand certain things without reasoning, evidence, or proof.
So, you can tell if God is with you if your Spirit bears witness within you that He actually is. Romans 8:16 (NIV) – The Spirit himself testifies with our Spirit that we are God’s children. If His Spirit joins with yours to affirm that you are His child, then you can be sure He is with you.
3. You Have an Insatiable Hunger to Know Him More.
God’s presence in the life of any believer prompts an unquenchable hunger to know Him more through constant study of His word, meditation, prayer, and more. If this is you, it is certainly a sign that God is with you.
4. You Are Prospering.
One proof that God is with you is that you prosper in all things. The Bible tells us that Obededom was blessed because of the Ark of the Covenant in his home. 2 Samuel 6:11(NIV) – The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed him and his entire household.
In the same way, you experience divine favor and open doors when the Lord is with you. Genesis 39:2-4 further proves that Joseph prospered in the house of Potiphar because God was with him; this made him find favor before Potiphar, his master.
5. You Love Effortlessly.
Romans 5:5 (NIV) says – And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Apparently, one of the works of the Holy Spirit in our lives is to shed God’s love abroad in our hearts.
He makes known the fullness of His love to us and soaks us in it. When He dwells in you, you love people without struggling to do it because His love abounds in your heart. If you do not hate but love effortlessly, it is a sign that God is with you.
6. You Are a Blessing to Others.
God was with Abraham, and He blessed him and made him a blessing that still speaks now. Genesis 12: 2. (NIV) – I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. Today, we are partakers of this blessing through Christ.
Similarly, when God is with you, He does not just bless you. He makes you a blessing to those around you. Your life becomes significant and impactful. Put simply; you know God is with you when your life begins to inspire and encourage others.
7. You Have a Resolute Faith.
One of the things the presence of God produces in us is faith. When He is with you, you are free from the bondage of fear. The Spirit of God in us does not make us timid or fearful. It makes us bold and inspires faith in us.
When God is with you, there are no doubts; you believe every iota of His word that says, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10 (NIV).
8. You Enjoy God’s Grace.
When God is with you, you experience His grace that brings about unusual enablement that makes you experience ease where people struggle. It brings a seamless flow of ideas, power, wisdom, guidance, and more to accomplish things effortlessly.
Luke 12:11-12 gives us a picture of how God manifests His presence in our lives through grace.
It says – When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say. If you have constantly been enjoying grace in your life, it’s a sign that God is with you.
9. You Have Unusual Understanding.
Daniel 1:17,19-20 (NIV) says – To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.
19: The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; so they entered the king’s service. 20: In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.
This was possible because God was with Daniel and his friends. Likewise, if you have an unusually high level of understanding or are divinely inspired, it indicates that God is with you.
Scripture says that the Holy Spirit will teach us all things and bring things to our remembrance. Job 32:8 (NIV) also says – But it is the Spirit in a person, the breath of the Almighty, that gives them understanding.
10. You Reverence God.
If you consciously have reverence or fear of God, that is another sign that God is with you. The fear here is the kind that helps you honor and love the Lord with delight.
That’s why Isaiah 11: 3 (NIV) says – And he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes or decide by what he hears with his ears.
11. Your Life Manifests God’s Character.
We naturally manifest God’s character when the Holy Spirit is in us. One of the things God does in us through the Holy Spirit is that He transforms us. He renews our minds and produces Christian virtues in us.
These Christian virtues are otherwise known as the Fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5: 22-23 (NIV) – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law.
In other words, if your life bears the fruit of the Spirit, then you can be sure that God is with you. When God is with you, He puts His Spirit and character in you such that your words and actions reflect His person.
12. You Have Boldness and Spiritual Authority.
As the psalmist said – The Lord is my light and salvation; who shall I fear? Fearlessness and spiritual authority are signs that God is with you.
When God is with you, His Spirit fills you with courage and boldness to confront anything, regardless of how frightening it is. For instance, you will be able to preach the gospel even in the face of opposition and stand firmly in the faith regardless of persecution.
In Judges 6:16, Gideon rose gallantly to deliver the people of Israel from the hands of the Midianites because God was with him.
The early Christians also persevered in the face of persecution in Acts 8. They preached the word even when their lives were in danger of death.
Mark 6:13 (NIV) says – They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them. Having this kind of boldness is definitely a sign that God is with you.
13. You Have Freedom from Sin and Demonic Oppression.
God gives us victory over sin and dominion over the flesh. His presence in our lives makes us want to live in ways that please Him. As such, if you despise sin and every form of ungodliness, it’s a sign that God is with you.
2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV) says – Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Hence, if you are free from every kind of demonic oppression, it is a sign that God is with you.
Conclusion
God has promised us that He will never leave nor forsake us. This means that He is always with us as long as we are His children.
