Spiritual forces are always there to contend with our faith as believers. Most of us may try to shy away from it, but the truth is, it’s always going to be around.
Now, that is not to scare you, but to bring to your awareness, and also let you know that you already have the power and dominion over them.
The Bible made us understand that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers and spiritual forces in high places. These spiritual forces have a primary target; to creep into the family, because it knows the most precious thing in God’s eyes is the home.
The family unit is very important. As you may already know; a nation is only as strong as the family. When these forces succeed with the family unit, it’s only a matter of time before the entire nation is affected.
Not to worry, though. Below are 12 Ways to Build Spiritual Wall Around Your Family.

Ensure Love Abound in the Family.
Love is the ultimate protector. It is the primary determinant of a strong family. It brings about unity; agreeing together on one thing, and pursuing that thing, even when the entire world is against it. When there is love in the family, it will be hard for spiritual forces to attack.
I love how Friedrich Nietzche puts it, “In family life, love is the oil that eases friction, the cement that binds closer together, and the music that brings harmony”.
This harmony is key when it comes to building a spiritual wall around your family. As you may already know; the fight against the family can only be won together. But how can you work together at it when there’s no love/harmony?
The bible also made us understand that two cannot work together except they agree. So the primary step would be to preach love more than anything else within the family. It is easier to start this when your kids are still very young so they can grow in it.
-
Awareness.
What you don’t know hurts you more than you can imagine. Ephesians 6:12 clearly made us understand that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”. We need to be aware of these principalities, powers, and spiritual wickedness. Tell me, how do you fight a battle you don’t even know?
So to bring awareness to this, teach your family about it. Make them understand there are spiritual forces out there against the believers; against their faith, strength, enthusiasm, progress, and life as a whole.
A sense of awareness about these spiritual forces is the first step to dealing with it.
Now, that is not to scare them, but to bring them in the know so as to work together as a family to trump these spiritual forces.

Live A Victorious Christian Life
Spiritual Stand.
Where does the family stand spiritually? Are there some of the family members who still do not believe in the power and existence of God? Are there some who take these things likely?
If yes, it’s your duty to help them get back on track. One easy way the devil uses to get to the family is through one nonchalant member of the family.
The bible said in 1 Peter 5:8 that we should “be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour”.
Now, understand that the devil work basically on our ignorance as believers. He – literally – does not have the power over us to do anything; he only uses our mind and what we don’t know against us.
This is why a solid spiritual stand of the entire family is key to building a wall against these forces.
-
Mindset.
Mindset is everything when it comes to building a spiritual wall against evil forces. You can already be free, but when you don’t know your freedom in Christ, the devil can leverage on that ignorance to torment the family.
Like I mentioned in the previous point, the devil only uses our ignorance as believers against us.
Our mindset as a family needs to be sound; we need to have an understanding and awareness of the victory we have in Christ.
Colossians 3:1-4 puts it even clearer, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory”.
Please go through that scripture again, meditatively. That is the powerful mindset we should all have as a family, and what will help us build a spiritual wall around our family.

Focus on the Word of God.
The word of God is powerful. Hebrews 4:12 made us understand that “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
What more do you want to know? God’s word is our leverage against spiritual forces. It is our weapon. For the weapon of our warfare is not carnal (guns, knives, bows, and arrows), but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds… that is the word of God!
God’s word is His power in us. Everything listens to it. It has life, power, and authority to silence every evil spiritual force against the family.
-
Confessions.
It is one thing to know the word of God concerning a particular situation, it is entirely another thing to declare those words over your life and family.
Yes, the word of God says you already have power over evil forces, but do you confess it? The word of God says you are the head but not the tail, but do you confess it?
When you confess the word (as in, really saying it out loud), you practically instruct your subconsciousness to begin to live in that reality. You and I know once something is ingrained in our subconsciousness, then it has become part of us.
God’s word need to become second nature to us. We need to live, breathe, and have our being in the word. That is when we can boldly face any spiritual force because we know exactly what the word says about it.
So begin to declare God’s victory over the family, and you will be surprised how it works wonders.
-
Prayer.
The age-old song, Prayer is the key, prayer is the master key… was inspired by the Holy Spirit. Prayer is our channel of communication with the one who gave us life.
Prayer helps us stay in touch with divinity. It helps us communicate with the founder of the family. During prayers, it is very important to remind God of His word. In fact, He said, concerning my words/promises, you are free to command me.
Philippians 4:6 clearly states that we should “be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God”.
No doubt, there are things that are quite hard to understand. There are spiritual mysteries that try to challenge our faith. Go to the Lord in prayer, and settle it with Him – for your family.

Cooperate Family Prayers.
It is one thing to pray for your family, it is entirely another thing for the whole family to pray together. You see, there is power in co-operate prayers. It works wonders.
Jesus made us understand in Matthew 18:19, “Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.”
Now, that is a powerful scripture. Jesus literally had to emphasize that because of the importance of co-operate prayers. There is a popular saying that a family that prays together stays together.
I couldn’t have said it better. So every so often, call the family together for some prayer time. Is there a recurring spiritual attack in the family? Do some cooperate prayers and it will be gone!
Remember when the church did cooperate prayers for Peter when he was kept in prison? That miracle was unheard of. That can happen in your family, too.

Family Devotions.
Devotions are one of the best times to form spiritual alliances against forces that target the family. It builds the family, spiritually. It is during devotions that cooperate prayers are easier to organize.
One of the qualities of a spiritually strong family is that they do devotions together. God loves the gathering of His people. Even more, He loves the gathering of the most important unit to Him – the family.
Set out a time; usually in the mornings and evening or once per day, to fellowship together as a family. This is sure to strengthen your spiritual wall.

Defeat fear.
The devil is nothing but a powerless bastard roaming the earth seeking whom he may pry on. He does not have any power to inflict; he only leverages on our fears.
This is why the Bible emphasized on this point – over 365 times – as reported by some scholars, to remind us every day of the year to fear not.
John 14:27 tells us that, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”.
This is Jesus’ own words to us. Instead of worrying about the spiritual forces against your family, why not accept the peace of God that surpasses all understanding and rest in that victory already? Truth is, you actually are victorious!
-
Pray in Tongues.
Praying in the language you understand is great. But even greater is praying in the language you don’t understand. The gift of tongues is never to be taken for granted.
This is because the only way to confuse the devil is to speak a language that set’s him in total confusion. Yes, you read that right; the devil doesn’t understand tongues.
Praying in tongues is the Holy Spirit helping you pray according to the will of God for you and your family.
Most times, we lack words to say to express how downcast we are, but as Paul told the Romans in Romans 8:26, “in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”
This helps us pray right and win big on spiritual forces.

Be Careful with Family Friends.
It’s great and important that families from different backgrounds come together as friends and bond together on a personal and interesting level. However, it is equally important to choose your family friends wisely.
Everything else might be great with your family until you allow other families access to your home. All the devil needs are access. Read that again. Once he gets that access, he can do and undo.
The devil can use those family friends to create discord within your family. Before you know it, what you all would usually agree on becomes a problem.
You’d wonder what happened until you find out it is your family friend that planted that seed of discord. That discord then grows and cracks your spiritual wall for the devil to step in.
In that light, we could never be tired of the warning Paul gave the Corinthians in 1 Cor.15:33, “do not be misled; bad company corrupts good character.” This is equally true for the family.
In conclusion, I’d like to close with the words of Pedro Okoro, “Spiritual warfare is very real. There is a furious, fierce, and ferocious battle raging in the realm of the spirit between the forces of God and the forces of evil.
Warfare happens every day, all the time. Whether you believe it or not, you are on a battlefield. You are in warfare. Take God at His Word – because winning the battle doesn’t require physical brawn, but spiritual brains!”
And always remember Isaiah 26:3, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts in You”. Stay victorious!
